Special Event: NSW Vigil Collective – Unite Against Violence

Special Event: NSW Vigil Collective – Unite Against Violence

We are proud to announce our district’s participation in the NSW Vigil Collective’s 2025 Campaign: “No More Empty Shoes.”
This is a powerful collaboration with 29 frontline services across the state, coordinated by The Marmalade Foundation (Lou’s Place), and sponsored by Sydney City Council.

Date: 25 November 2025
Location: Martin Place, Sydney
Time: Vigil begins at 12 noon (attendees encouraged to arrive from 8am)

Program highlights include:

  • Welcome to Country and healing yarning circle

  • Speech by Celia Donovan (DVNSW)

  • Testimony from Tabitha Acret, whose daughter was killed in a DV incident

  • Reading of victim names and remembrance of children

  • Display of shoes (provided by Dress for Success)

  • A powerful Flashmob performance of   “You’re the Voice” by the Sydney Philharmonic Choirs. This is a secret for the day, so please keep this quiet.

Our Zonta D24 logo will appear on banners on the main stage and there will also be promotional banners at Wynyard, Barangaroo.  We have also been invited to promote our tree display at information tables before and after the official event. Please wear your orange Zonta shirts to make our presence known. Area Directors have been briefed — if you plan to attend, please notify your AD so we can coordinate numbers. Photo: Saif71.com
