Since joining Zonta more than 15 years ago, I have been a member of four Zonta Clubs (Canberra, Nepean Valley, Botany Bay and Sydney Breakfast) and worked with fellow Zontians to start the Zonta Club of North Sydney Breakfast.
When I joined Zonta, as a young mother of one who was also a full time serving officer of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), I was acutely aware of the many issues facing women in professional life. My time in Zonta has been spent working on these issues, and wide variety of others that still impact the lives of women in our country and around the world. Much has been achieved, but much is also still to be done.
Professionally: I spent more than 15 years in the RAAF as an economist, and was decorated for contributions to Defence logistics in the 1994 Australia Day Honours List. Six years at Qantas Airways Limited began with econometric forecasting and led to being the inaugural General Manager eCommerce, after which I moved into management consulting. Since June 2002, I have been Managing Director of our boutique management consultancy, ThinkEvans Pty Ltd, which specialises in complex problem solving.
I am also a member of the Australian Business Foundation, the National Foundation for Australian Women, YWCA NSW and Women on Boards, as well as being a supporter of various organisations trying to improve our world, such as the School of St Jude in Tanzania.
For fun, I am a keen rock-climber, energetic chef and voracious reader. My husband and sons (the sons born in 1990 and 1993) are enthusiastic supporters of Zonta, and a great test audience for the chef efforts, as well as having acquired the taste for rock-climbing.
